Hi, and welcome to The SpaceCraft!
The SpaceCraft is a not-for-profit community organisation bringing people together through creativity, helping to reduce loneliness and social isolation in South London.
We create a welcoming space for local people to make friends, share skills and craft beautiful handmade products, building a sense of connection, purpose and belonging.
Profits from our products are reinvested into growing our work, creating more opportunities for creativity, friendship and community.

Our vision
Our vision is that The SpaceCraft provides creative opportunities for everyone to be able to feel included, valued and celebrated in their community.

The background
Feeling connected, valued and part of a community is essential to our health and wellbeing.
Yet loneliness and social isolation affect people of all ages and backgrounds, highlighting the importance of creating opportunities for friendship, connection and belonging.
Research shows just how many people could benefit from stronger social connections:
-
1 in 5 people in the UK say they often or always feel lonely.
-
24% of parents experience frequent loneliness (Action for Children).
-
1 in 4 people experience mental health challenges each year (Mind).
-
1 in 3 people aged over 75 feel they have little control over their loneliness (Age UK).
-
Half of disabled people experience loneliness on any given day (Sense).
At The SpaceCraft, we believe creativity brings people together.
Crafting offers a welcoming, enjoyable way to make friends, share experiences, learn new skills and build confidence.
It creates a sense of purpose, achievement and belonging, supporting positive mental and social wellbeing.
There's something special about making something with your own hands — and even more joy in knowing that someone else will enjoy what you've created.

How we're funded and where the money goes
We’re a social enterprise – a business that is committed to benefitting the community. Any profits we make are reinvested back into the business to fund and develop our work. We are grateful for the funding and support we have received from Lambeth Council, the National Lottery, London Community Foundation, Brixton Pound and Norwood Forum.
