South London Knits
South London Knits: Welcome
South London Knits is a free and friendly community knitting, craft and social group for local people taking place in Brixton and West Norwood.
Local people came together to knit a range of beautiful gifts and treats for babies, including cardigans, hats, booties and blankets. The project was free to all and materials and refreshments were provided.

The beautiful unique products were professionally packaged with a personal tag from the maker and available for sale. 100% of profits from the sale of products went towards running and sustaining the project.

South London Knits provided opportunities for local people to come together and connect, learn new skills, share them with others, and participate in activities. Newbies were taught by experienced knitters...many of who went on to teach other new knitters!

The range of participants was very diverse and included families, older people, carers, people with learning difficulties, people with mental health issues, long-term unemployed people, young people and people with multiple disabilities.

For every £1 invested in the project, up to £5.47 of social value was generated (New Economics Foundation Consultancy)
